Commercial Portraits

Joey's commercial portrait work centers on the fantasy, the otherworldly, and the surreal. She is immensely selective as to which projects she'll dedicate her time to, so that she can focus on those elements capable of portraying a complex narrative. Her portfolio is story-driven, and the images she creates are the result of intentional concept creation. She has created portraits of sirens adrift at sea, of replicants battling with their inner demons, of faeries caught between the realm of men and their own. Even her more traditional images aim to express more than just a simple idea. She aims for connection – for the dynamic portrayal of every subject she photographs.

Headshots

A headshot is more than just a photo. It’s your first impression …and in any first impression, you want to make a deep connection.  With Joey Phoenix, you can be sure that you’re getting the best quality from a professional who understands what a headshot photo is supposed to do for you.

The Olympians

“One describes a tale best by telling the tale. You see? The way one describes a story, to oneself or to the world, is by telling the story. It is a balancing act and it is a dream. The more accurate the map, the more it resembles the territory. The most accurate map possible would be the territory, and thus would be perfectly accurate and perfectly useless.
The tale is the map that is the territory. You must remember this.”
~ Neil Gaiman, American Gods

The Evolution of Time

“Try to imagine a life without timekeeping. You probably can’t. You know the month, the year, the day of the week. There is a clock on your wall or the dashboard of your car. You have a schedule, a calendar, a time for dinner or a movie. Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays. an alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures. A fear of time running out.”
~ Mitch Albom, The Time Keeper

The Faerie Tribe

"My friends, I address you all tonight as you truly are; wizards, mermaids, travelers, adventurers, magicians... Come and dream with me." ~ Hugo
